My dad is an amazing man. He loves children (especially babies) more than anyone I know. If there's a baby in the room, he'll be holding it within 2 minutes of entering the room. One of the things I admire most about my dad is his ability to get to know people quickly and make them feel comfortable. I think this talent is especially appreciated by the many cousin-in-laws who marry into our large, crazy family.
Because my dad cares so much about the people in his life, he is a great listener and knows about a lot of things you might never expect. I am always amazed by his knowledge of random subjects (like tobacco farming).
What I am most grateful for are the sacrifices my dad has made for me and our family. Family is his number one priority. We are his hobby. And not just his children, but all of the many cousins, nieces, and nephews whose weddings and special events we have traveled to over the years. Family vacations were family reunions.
A few of my favorite "Dad" sayings:
- You don't have to happy about it, you just have to do it
- You need to be where you need to be when you need to be there.
- Happiness is a choice.
- You gotta get up, you gotta get up, you gotta get up in the morning.
- Good morning merry sunshine
