It will make for a great story and it's never quite how you pictured it in your head all rolled up in one

The Ozark YSA conference was this past weekend and as the newly called Stake YSA rep, I really felt like I needed to be there. Plus the entire Stake Presidency asked me if I was going and told me they'd see me there, so I didn't figure I have much choice.

Sheri Dew was the headline speaker which made all the pain of the other events completely worth it. She is an unbelievable woman. So honest and approachable. As a single woman, I especially appreciate her perspective and insights.

Ok, back to the more awkward parts of the conference. Two dances, two nights. Picture your first stake dance when you were 14. Keep the same playlist, but add 14 years to your age and leave everyone else the same age. That almost describes my experience this past weekend. I spent the night dancing with boys who were getting baptized the year I graduated from high school. And they played an alarming number of slow songs and every line dance ever invented. Heather and I rocked the Macarena since we were the only ones in the room who really knew the dance in the 90's. If you'd like a glimpse of this special event, check out this link. Heather and I couldn't resist filming it.

This is Heather going to drinking fountain during one of the many slow songs.

Unfortunately (not really), I had some other commitments during the day on Saturday so I missed most of the free time activities including swimming, climbing wall, and games. While not yet estatic about my new calling, I have been in many well-organized singles wards over the past 10 years and know a little something about planning activities. While I doubt this is the last painful YSA activity I will attend, I think I hit rock bottom with this one and hopefully my co-chair and I can start planning some fun activities.

(There are a few other hilarious dance stories, but I will spare the innocent on my blog. Call me if you want a real update and hear all the craziness of the leadership meeting following the conference.)

You are so funny! All my memories of stake dances came back in a rush as I watched that video. So totally rad. I love Sheri Dew too, that definitely would make it all worth it. I love your Cabo pics (wish I was with you!) but I heard you're coming for our 10 year and I can't WAIT to see you!
